My guy Dick Bird. His book The Art of Freehand Lettering was my North star while beginning to paint signs.

My favorite part of his books are the detailed color charts- If the vehicle is Yellow or Gold, the main stripe should be Brilliant Blue, and the other stripe should be White. This is the recommendation I took to heart on the striping of my personal work truck.
